ANDHealth ACTIVATE, supported by LaunchVic, is a purpose-built accelerator program for Victorian digital & digitally enabled medical technology companies which are poised for significant growth.

ACTIVATE combines critical elements of the highly regarded Masterclass and ANDHealth+ programs into a 6 month accelerator-style program, providing leading content, hands on coaching, deep domain expertise and supported implementation.

Targeted companies which bring together the enabling capabilities of technology and deep health and medical research to create novel digital or digitally enabled medical technologies, products or services, ACTIVATE is suitable for companies which have reached MVP and can demonstrate early engagement with users and customers.  

Throughout the 6-month program, companies will receive tailored support and mentorship designed to result in a robust business and investment case which will enable companies to successfully navigate the due diligence processes of professional investors and enterprise customers. The program will deliver world-class content with hands on coaching and support to allow companies to implement their learnings into their business on a real-time basis.

Cohort companies will also benefit from access to a national Executive in Residence with a proven track record in developing, commercialising, scaling and exiting a digital health business, as well as facilitated access to ANDHealth’s global network of industry leaders and preferred suppliers. 


Program Overview
The 6-month program comprises:

✓  6 modules of expert content aligning to key building blocks of a strategic commercialisation, business and capital plan. 

✓ Supported knowledge implementation phases, which will include practical exercises and self-completion tasks designed to help participants put their learnings into practice.

✓ Mentoring and actionable feedback: 1-1 and small group feedback from executives in residence, national sector experts and international industry leaders to support continuous growth and improvement.

ACTIVATE Speakers
ACTIVATE 2023 engaged a total of 118 industry experts with 50% female & 50% male.  

Industry experts and speakers for ACTIVATE 2024 will be curated from ANDHealth’s extensive national and international network of industry leaders. All featured speakers possess hands-on experience and a proven track record in delivering outcomes in digital and connected health.

Executive in Residence
We are grateful to provide successful ACTIVATE applicants with exclusive access to a national Executive in Residence (EIR). This includes monthly 1:1 sessions and additional check-in’s as required.

The EIR selected has a proven track record in developing, commercialising, scaling and exiting a digital health business.  We are thrilled to welcome Duane Attree as the EIR for the second year in a row!  

 
About Duane:

Duane has a diverse and distinctive career spanning Board, C-suite and senior executive positions in the public & private sectors primarily within the health industry. He has worked across a variety of settings including: ASX listed, private, Big 4 consulting, Fortune 200, public hospitals and the not-for-profit sectors.
The program is designed for digital and digitally-enabled medical technology companies which:

✓ Have a business registered in Victoria

✓ Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

✓ Have more than 1 employee and fewer than 200 employees

✓ Have an annual revenue of less than $20 million

✓ Be developing and commercialising a digital health or digitally-enabled medical technology such as mobile health (mHealth), health information technology, decision support software, remote patient monitoring, digital diagnostics, wearable devices and sensors, telehealth and telemedicine, personalised medicine, connected medical devices, Software as a Medical Device (FDA definition)

✓ Have a functioning MVP which can be deployed to generate clinical and commercial evidence

✓ Can provide evidence of customer and/ or end-user demand

✓ Are able to service the commitment of a 6-month part-time program for senior leaders in the business (founder, C Suite level)
The program is designed to span across 6 months, recognising the busy lives of scale-up entrepreneurs. The overall structure will involve one module a month, with the first week focusing on content and then knowledge implementation and mentoring for the remaining weeks.

Successful applicants for the program will be notified towards the end of April. The selection process involves a comprehensive scoring procedure, and once the top 15 candidates are ratified, all applicants will be notified.

We kindly ask all applicants to put a placeholder in their diaries for Day 0 of the program which will take place on 6 May, this will be a full day of informative content and networking, followed by 7 - 8 May attending Digital Health Festival as a Cohort.

Module 1 is set to begin on the week of 13 May, and in-person availability will be preferable. The content delivery and knowledge implementation schedules, as well as coaching support, will be detailed closer to the program start date.

• Delivery: The program will be delivered via a hybrid format comprising on-site presentations, workshops and networking and online content, meetings and mentoring.

The on-site component will be held at the Victorian Connected Health Innovation and Commercialisation Centre (CHICC) at Level 2, 99 William Street in Melbourne. Cohort companies will be encouraged to take advantage of the free co-working and meeting space at CHICC for the duration of the program.
✓ 15 companies (up to a maximum of 20) will be selected through a competitive process each year.

A committed senior member of each company is required for active participation in the program.

While there may be room for other senior members to participate in specific sessions, we require full dedication from a nominated team member of the executive leadership team from each cohort company.  

Additionally, we strongly encourage other team members to attend relevant sessions aligned with their department or business throughout the program.

Will attending ACTIVATE negatively affect my company’s application for ANDHealth+ and/or CUREator+ in the future?
Attending ACTIVATE will provide your business with the right resources and skills to apply for the ANDHealth+ program in the future. Where suitable, we encourage applicants of ACTIVATE to apply for ANDHealth+ or CUREator+ following the program.

How often do I have to come in for program delivery throughout the 6-months?
The program is designed to span across 6 months, recognising the busy lives of scale-up entrepreneurs.

The overall structure will be 1 module per month: 
- First week - content and learning (in-person)
- Second and Third week - knowledge implementation (blended delivery both in-person and virtual options)
- Fourth week - mentoring (virtual)

The program offers a blended delivery approach, combining in-person, virtual, and optional sessions.

Will I receive feedback about our application if I am unsuccessful?
Yes. We make every effort to provide each unsuccessful applicant with feedback about their application. Feedback may come in the form of a follow-up phone call or email.
Can I apply from outside of Victoria?
The program is designed for Victorian digital health and connected device companies, we therefore require all applications to have their main business operations in Victoria along with an Australian Business Number (ABN).
