Navigating the Australian MedTech Market

This guide for Victorian Health SMEs is designed to illuminate the pathways to success within the Australian healthcare landscape.
It includes an overview of healthcare expenditure in Australia, the MedTech lifecycle, regulation, reimbursement and funding of MedTech, hospital systems, a procurement overview and a checklist for SMEs to position for success in Australian and export markets.
The guide has been developed with support from the Australian MedTech Manufacturing Centre and complements resources including the ‘Victorian MedTech Manufacturing Capability Summary’ and ‘Victorian MedTech Sector Directory’, which both profile and promote local manufacturers' capability to health buyers and decision-makers.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  1. Access Resources and Checklist: Gain access to comprehensive resources and a detailed checklist designed to facilitate meticulous preparation for a successful engagement in health procurement processes.
  2. Learn Dos and Don'ts: Acquire valuable insights from companies that are new to the dynamics of selling into the Victorian and Australian healthcare markets. Understand the best practices and pitfalls to navigate for a smoother market entry.
  3. Participate in Industry Q&A: Engage in a dynamic industry Question and Answer session focused on addressing common oversights in health procurement. This interactive session provides a platform for participants to seek clarification, share experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of the nuances within the sector.

  • CHICC workshops are free to Victorian Digital and Digitally Enabled Medical Technology Companies thanks to the support of the Australian Medtech Manufacturing Centre and the Victorian Government Department of Jobs Skills Industry and Regions.  
  • All participating companies will be required to participate in post-workshop surveys as a condition of registration. Companies which do not complete post-workshop surveys may be required to pay a registration fee for any future workshops. 
  • Numbers are strictly limited with only 30 seats available at each workshop.
